LOT NOTES
The present lot is a very rare work by the artist Vera Khlebnikova, the younger sister of the leading Futurist poet Velimir Khlebnikov. An exceptional painter, her works are delicate in character and composition, showing not only Fauvist influences but reminiscent of Vrubel and Nesterov as well. Khlebnikova's paintings come to market exceedingly rarely, the majority of them having been destroyed in a studio fire in 1930. Having began studying art at 14 in Kazan, she would later study in Kiev Moscow, and St. Petersburg, before coming to Paris in 1912, where she became the favorite student of Kes van Dongen at the Academie Witte.

CONDITION
Observed in frame, the work is appears in overall good condition. Some overall surface dirt. Notably bowing to the board apparent along the top. Vertical crack to the panel at the lower right, just below the nude woman's hand, 4 cm (1 5/8 in.) long. Small dent/scratch to her backside. Inspection under UV reveals no apparent signs of restoration or repairs.
