The influential Strelets literary and artistic almanac, founded and published by poet Aleksandr Belenson, comprises three collections, published in 1915-1922. The title of the almanac was given by Blok and is reflected in David Burliuk’s frontispiece and logotype of the eponymous Strelets publishing house. Strelets was the first publication to bring together works by Futurist provocateurs and the more conventional Symbolists under the same cover. Burliuk, commenting on the adjancance of the two, wryly remarked: "...Futurists are stuck like cockroaches between the thoroughly dampened (such is the climate) logs of Symbolism". As an artistic collection, however, Strelets was widely praised, and remains one of the most important publications of the Russian Avant-Garde.
