A SET OF FOUR LARGE RUSSIAN "SAINTS" PORCELAIN EASTER EGGS, ONE PAPIER-MACHE, PROBABLY LUKUTIN, IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST. PETERSBURG, LATE 19TH CENTURY

comprising:
a) a lacquered papier-mache egg depicting Christ rising from the tomb, the verso with a church, on a crimson ground with stars; height: 10.5 cm (4 1/8 in.)
b) a porcelain egg depicting queen St. Alexandra of Rome clad in ermine robes and holding a palm frond whilst gazing at the heavens, the verso with symbols of Christ; height: 9 cm (3 1/2 in.)
c) a porcelain egg depicting queen St. Helena clad in ermine robes and holding a cross whilst gazing at the heavens, initialed P. in Cyrillic lower right, with a scalloped laurel border, the verso with concentric circles centering a five-pointed star; height: 8.5 cm (3 3/8 in.)
d) a porcelain egg depicting St. Nicholas the Wonderworker against a shaded robin egg blue ground, the verso with Kh. V. in Cyrillic for Khristos Voskres [He is Risen]; height: 10 cm (4 in.)

CONDITION
The group is in overall good, stable, age-appropriate condition, with no in-painting apparent under UV light.
a) Darkening to the gilt. Overall very fine and stable age-appropriate craquelure. Two losses to the left side, largest measuring 1 cm (3/8 in.), smaller dents. Discoloration and difference in texture to the top.
b) Rubbing to the gilt on the right side of the verso and loss of gilt to the underside.
c) Scattered scuffs and scratches, most apparent to the central reserve.
