Egg tempera and gesso on wood panel. Partially overlaid with silver gilded decoration in the early 17th Century. A silver repoussé frame (basma) around the border applied in early 18th Century. Icon has slight restoration on the top and bottom. 41 x 32.5 cm (16 1/8 x 12 3/4 in.)

Acquired in the 1930s in Moscow by the Grandfather of the present owner, a diplomat in the Italian Embassy to the Soviet Union
