LOT NOTES
Reproduced here is a letter dated June 24, 1010 from the Director of the Carnegie Institute to Nicholas Chimonas in St. Petersburg informing him of the sale of his painting to Mr. Robert Hall, along with a letter dated October 28, 1910 to the artist requesting more paintings for a future exhibition, and noting that the current painting "was one of the most attractive and popular pictures in the collection". The originals of these letters are in the Carnegie Institute Museum of Art records at the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. The present lot is also mentioned in a review of the paintings sold at the Annual Exhibition in American Art News, Vol. 8, No. 33, July 16, 1910.
