LOT NOTES
This is an early Art Nouveau painting from 1908 by the Romanian painter Michel Simonidy. Simonidy exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1908 to 1912, and it is possible that the present lot was exhibited there as well. Originally a pupil of Leon Bonnat and Gabriel Ferrier, Simonidy came from a Greek family from Muntenia, and was originally named Menelas Simonides, or Mihail Simonidi in Romanian. The present lot exemplifies the romantic and stylistic art nouveau style for which he is most well known.
