LOT NOTES
During the second half of the 1920s, Louis Icart continued to explore the female sensuality in his works, imbuing the formerly simple scenes with a newfound, subtle eroticism. This particular composition from 1926, Fumée, has been singled out by Icart scholars and authors of the print catalogue raisonné (who divide the artist`s work as before and after 1925) as one of the works that gave definition to the genre thereafter. Ibid., p.111.

Estimate: $1,000 – $1,500
