LOT NOTES
As one of China`s leading contemporary artists, part of Liu Liguo`s appeal lies in his uncanny ability to masterfully blend the refined and the crass, never failing to surprise, and at times even shock, the viewer. Liu s work is frequently described as dripping with sensuality as exemplified by the present lot, which features a pair of porcelain vases with delicate traditional representation of oversized peaches and peach trees (symbols of longevity) frequently seen in hand-painted famille-rose porcelain. The porcelain vessels, in this case, however, are in the form of a pair of human feet with red-painted toenails. At once enticing and repulsive, the combination serves to elevate the ordinary, and bring the formerly inaccessible to the everyday.

Estimate: $5,000 – $7,000
