LOT NOTES
Beijing artist Li Guijun is known for his exploration of the dynamics of women in a photo realistic fashion. He painted adolescent girls exclusively for almost twenty years, and the current painting is amongst the artist's rare early works that he created at the time of graduation from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 1988. The work comes from the estate of Milton Gelfand, a successful businessman, who traveled extensively around communist China during the Sino-U.S. rapprochement in the 1970-90s and built an impressive art collection mainly comprised of contemporary Chinese paintings and sculpture.
