LOT NOTES
The present lot, depicting a group of frolicking putti was created by Konstantin Makovsky in 1889-1890 as part of the series of architectural decorations for Baron Sergei von Dervis's new residence in St. Petersburg. The von Dervis mansion later was used as the venue for the Russian Imperial family's Faberge Artistic Objects and Miniatures Exhibition in 1902.
