AN IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION OF 82 PORCELAIN ITEMS FROM THE BABIGON SERVICE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY ST. PETERSBURG

from the period of Nicholas I (1825-1855) to Nicholas II (1894-1917), with selected pieces from the Kornilov Porcelain Manufactory. Each piece gilded with stylised ivy and leaf decorations, the cups with gilded interiors, the plates with central gilt rosettes within gilt bands, the borders painted with a frieze of burnished gold vines within gilt continous triangle, reeded russet and gilt band borders. Comprising: thirty large dinner plates (seven with Nicholas I hallmarks, one with Alexander III hallmark dated 1889, twenty with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1897-1903, two without hallmarks); one smaller bowl on gilted base without hallmark; ten dinner plates with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1898-1909; three tea-cups with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1909-1910; two coffee cups with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1895-1896; five saucers (four with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1898-1906, one with a Soviet hallmark, 1918); one covered sugar-bowl with Kornilov factory mark; two sauce boats with two stands (one with Nicholas I hallmark, one with Nicholas II hallmark dated 1898); two long platters both with Nicholas I hallmarks; one milk-jug with Kornilov hallmark, one dessert stand on a gilted column with Nicholas II hallmark, 1897; one tea-pot with lid with Kornilov hallmark; seven dessert plates with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1896-1903; twelve soup bowls (one with Nicholas I hallmark, one with Alexander III hallmark dated 1892, the others with Nicholas II hallmarks, 1896-1903); one large bowl on a gilted base with Nicholas I hallmark; and one large bowl with Nicholas II hallmark, 1898.

Acquired in the 1930s in Moscow by the Grandfather of the present owner, a diplomat in the Italian Embassy to the Soviet Union
